What is sugar scrub?

Sugar Scrub means sugar peeling. And that's exactly what describes it best. It's a scrub made from sugar. The special thing about the Sugar Scrub is that it gently removes dead skin cells without causing any pain. This reveals the soft and healthy skin underneath and the complexion regains its radiance.

The cleaning with the Sugar Scrub is very gentle but also thorough. It not only removes the top layer of dead skin, but also reduces built-up bacterial build-up and moisturizes. Because of its gentleness, it is suitable for almost every skin type and is particularly good for sensitive skin. When you use PureBee Sugar Scrubs on your body, your skin will be hydrated by the natural properties of sugar (which I'll get to in more detail in a moment) and nourishing oils, beeswax, propolis and honey.

A sugar scrub can also affect your mood! That's why we offer a variety of different fragrances. Do you need a little helper in the morning to get fit? Or rather something to switch off and wind down in the evening? We encourage you to choose your Sugar Scrub not based on which scent you might like best, but based on which shower moment best suits your needs. For example, our Kickstarter, Lemongrass Body Scrub, is made with natural lemongrass oil and helps you wake up better in the morning. Our bedtime cherry body scrub, with real cherry powder, will help you calm down in the evening.

How do I use a Sugar Scrub?

Before using our PureBee Body Scrub , shake it well as the natural ingredients can settle over time. Make sure everything is mixed well so that the last drop of body scrub stays just as good as the first. You can use the Sugar Scrub in the shower, bath or even over the sink. Making sure your skin is wet, squeeze a small amount of body scrub onto your hand and apply to your body. Gently massage in the scrub. You can use your hand, a body sponge, or a washcloth to do this. If you feel the sugar dissolving, just rinse it off with clean water (no shower gel) and dry your body. The Sugar Scrub cleanses, exfoliates and moisturizes in one easy step, eliminating the need for extra body lotion.

Unlike other body scrubs , PureBee Sugar Scrubs are best used after shaving or depilating. Pamper yourself and your skin!

Why sugar?

Sugar has many advantages over other exfoliating particles, such as salt, nut shells or plastic beads. A very important environmental aspect compared to the often used plastic particles is that sugar is natural and completely dissolves in wastewater. Sugar is also a humectant, meaning it attracts and retains moisture. Therefore, when you apply products with sugar, it actually helps moisturize your skin and retain that moisture as well. To support this property, we always use the scrub on wet skin.

In addition, sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, which penetrates the skin's layers and breaks down skin cells. This disruption stimulates cell renewal, resulting in fresher, younger-looking skin.

In other products, glycolic acid is often used to treat dry or aging skin. Sugar, on the other hand, is an excellent natural source without having to add artificial glycolic acid.

In addition, sugar cleanses the skin very gently and opens clogged pores. This can prevent blackheads, pimples and skin spots. Your skin will already feel renewed and very soft after the first application.

Why use a sugar scrub instead of a salt scrub?

Many people have tried, or at least heard of, salt scrubs. But what are the advantages of a sugar scrub over a salt scrub? Unlike salt crystals, sugar crystals are round and cannot "cut" into the skin. Especially for sensitive skin, sugar scrubs are a much better choice and they are ideal for daily use. Also, the sugars dissolve much more quickly in warm water, meaning they're less harsh on skin and unlikely to overwhelm your skin. A few years ago, salt scrubs were considered more effective, and the theory was that the firmer and coarser the scrub, the softer your skin! But this theory can actually hurt you. It's far better and healthier to incorporate a gentle sugar scrub into your daily cleansing routine than using a harsh salt scrub once or twice a week.

Salt also lacks the moisturizing properties that sugar possesses. This makes it less nourishing for your skin. In fact, salt can strip away your skin's natural oils, leading to dry skin.
